Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
This policy explains what personal data Forgehold collects, why, who helps us process it, and the rights you have over it. Forgehold is operated by a sole operator trading as Forgehold and acts as the data controller. Questions or requests? Email hello@forgehold.gg.
1. What we collect
- —Account details — your email address and name. You sign in with Google (OAuth) or with a magic link sent to your email; in both cases we receive your email and, from Google, your name.
- —Billing details — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a Stripe customer reference and subscription status so we know what you are paying for.
- —Server configuration — the settings for your game server (name, plan, mods, world options) that you enter or that we apply on your behalf.
- —Operational logs — technical logs from provisioning, backups, and running your container, used to operate the service and diagnose problems.
- —Waitlist emails — if you joined our pre-launch waitlist, we hold the email address you gave us so we can tell you when we launch.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
2. Why we use it
We use your data to create and secure your account, provision and operate your server, take payment, back up your world, send you transactional email about your service, respond to support requests, and comply with our legal obligations. The legal bases we rely on are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing the service, and your consent (for the waitlist).
3. Who processes it
We rely on a small set of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:
- —Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- —Resend — sending transactional and magic-link emails.
- —Neon — managed PostgreSQL database hosting for account and configuration data.
- —Hetzner — dedicated servers, located in Germany, that run your game server.
- —Backblaze B2 — off-site storage for your world-save backups.
Each provider is bound by its own data-processing terms and only handles the data needed for its role.
4. Where your data lives and international transfers
Our game servers run in Hetzner’s data centres in Germany (EU). Depending on the provider, some data may also be processed in other regions. Where data is transferred out of the EU/EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Because our infrastructure is in the EU and our customers may be anywhere in the world, we handle personal data in a GDPR-aware manner regardless of where you live.
5. Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in (your session). We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies, so there is nothing to opt into and we do not show a consent banner. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
- —Account data — kept until you ask us to delete your account.
- —Server data and world saves — kept for 30 days after cancellation or suspension, then permanently deleted.
- —Backups — a rolling 7-day window; older backups are automatically overwritten.
- —Waitlist emails — kept until launch or until you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first.
We may retain limited records longer where needed to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and — where the law gives you these rights — to restrict or object to certain processing or withdraw consent. To make a request, email hello@forgehold.gg from the address on your account and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK and believe we have mishandled your data, you also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
8. Security
We protect your data with reduced-privilege containers, encrypted connections, access controls, and the security practices of the providers listed above. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, make a reasonable effort to let you know.
